I want to CONDUCT RESEARCH on the Jornada Basin
- Form: Notification of Research
- Description: The completed form describes proposed research in sufficient detail to facilitate evaluation with regard to potential impact on ongoing and historical research as well as the potential impact of ongoing and historical research on the proposed study.
- Requirement: An approved Notification of Research form is required prior to initiation of any research on the Jornada Basin that is sponsored through either the Jornada LTER or the USDA-ARS Jornada Experimental Range (JER).

Submission process:
- For studies sponsored through the Jornada LTER, submit as an e-mail attachment to John Anderson, Jornada Basin LTER Site Manager (janderso@nmsu.edu).
- For studies sponsored through the USDA-ARS JER, submit as an e-mail attachment to Dr. Kris Havstad (khavstad@nmsu.edu).

I want to document a RESEARCH PROJECT
- Form: Project Documentation
- Description: Project Documentation provides an overall project description that includes a title, period of the study, abstract, responsible investigator(s), and associated datasets, among other descriptors.

Requirement: Completion of the Project Documentation is required for each project that is a Jornada LTER study, OR one that comes under the auspices of the Jornada Basin LTER information management system.
A Project Documentation form is to be submitted within 90 days of initiation of study. -
Submission process:
- Please direct questions to the Jornada Basin LTER Data Manager (DataManager@jornada.nmsu.edu)
- Submit Project Documentation as an e-mail attachment to the Jornada Basin LTER Data Manager (DataManager@jornada.nmsu.edu)
- Definition: A Project is a discrete study that is described by a hypothesis to address a specific question. A Project will have one or more datasets associated with it, and these are listed within the Project Documentation.

I want to document a DATASET within a research project
- Forms: Dataset Documentation and Dataset Attribute Documentation
- Description: Dataset Documentation provides a detailed dataset description that includes a title, period of the dataset, abstract, responsible investigator(s), and attribute or variable descriptions, among other descriptors.
- Requirement: Completion of both forms is required for each dataset; i.e, separate forms are to be completed for each dataset listed in the Project Documentation. Both dataset documentation forms are to be submitted for each dataset within one year of data collection.

- Submit Project Documentation as an e-mail attachment to the Jornada Basin LTER Data Manager (DataManager@jornada.nmsu.edu)
- Definition: A Dataset is a set of data collected using the same protocol where every data record has an identical structure with the same set of attributes as defined within the Dataset Attribute Documentation.
